CORNWALL ADVENTURES AND PUGS

08:27Unknown

The title of this post suggests this is going to be a post about exploring an unknown place. That's not strictly true because I do actually live in Cornwall. But there's so much to see here and Rock was all new for me.

June was Jet's birthday and because we are backwards, he headed down to my neck of the woods to celebrate (if you read our Wiltshire post, you'll know I travelled his way for mine back in March)!

His family rented a cottage in Rock, which is located just a stones throw from Padstow and is basically the Chelsea of Cornwall (posh, posh, posh). It's full of restaurants, boats and Jack Wills– and once we arrived, pugs. Three of them, in fact.

We spent the days wandering, eating and floating around on boat taxis, travelling between Rock and Padstow. It may have been a holiday just half an hour away from my house, but spending time anywhere on the Cornish coast is a worthwhile use of your time.

Saturday saw a bunch of Jet's friends travel down for an evening in Padstow and was the only stressful part of the trip. And when I say stressful, I mean 'pull-your-hair-out-what-the-hell-can-we-do-everything-is-falling-apart' stressful.

Now, one thing that is terrible in Cornwall is public transport. If you can't drive, it's almost impossible to get around, so when one friend was due to be picked up from Bodmin Railway Station an hour and a half before our table was booked, and we got to within five minutes of it to find the only road to take you there closed, well, chaos ensued. Several panicked phone calls to our friends, Jet's family and eventually my family later and our friend was transported to Padstow. We made it to the restaurant just one minute late, which I take as a success!

One thing I loved about Rock was how dog friendly it was. Every where you looked, there were dogs. On the beaches, in the restaurants, which makes it 100% my kind of place. The one thing I didn't like was the price. Over the course of three days, I spent at least £100 on food alone. But it was good food, so I can't really complain. If I had to recommend anything, it would be the chicken caesar salad in The Rock Inn. And I wasn't drinking alcohol, so that definitely kept the costs down!

It was a beautiful weekend. The sun shone (or at least as much as you could hope for in Cornwall), the laughs flowed and the tummy's grew. Rock isn't somewhere I would add to my regular list, but I'd definitely pop over there again, although, as with most popular holiday spots, only out of season.
